At the Panama Clinic Orthopedic Center we have specialists in lumbar radiofrequency, cervical radiofrequency and other advanced minimally invasive techniques, which will help you say goodbye to any of your spinal conditions.

On this occasion, we will talk about radio frequency including: what goals it pursues, what the risks are and more.

Cervical and lumbar radiofrequency

Radiofrequency is a treatment in which electromagnetic waves applied through an insulating needle are used to penetrate the layers of the skin and produce a controlled ablation that allows the nerves that send the sensation of pain to the brain to be deactivated. Radiofrequency also has the particularity of regenerating collagen and other skin fibers, which is why it is one of the top trends in the area of cosmetic surgery.

Returning to the field of traumatology, both lumbar radiofrequency and cervical radiofrequency have shown great benefits on pathologies that affect these segments of the spine, especially those involving nerve damage.

Radiofrequency is an outpatient treatment and local anesthesia that does not require hospitalization, so the patient can return home a few minutes after the procedure. Because it is a minimally invasive method, it does not require a long recovery time; Additionally, as there are no incisions or internal dissections, the risk of complications is much lower.

Patients undergoing this procedure can experience considerable pain relief during the following 6 or 9 months, even in cases of mild to moderate low back pain, pain reduction has been proven for up to more than a year; After this time, the treated nerve will normally regenerate and the pain will return.

Radiofrequency is especially indicated to treat persistent and acute lumbar or cervical pain, whether it comes from a pinch or nerve damage, joint injuries, degenerative processes, neuropathics, osteoarthritis, among others.

We remind you that the maximum point of pain relief can be felt from 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure.
